Following the death of Miss Ifedolapo Oladepo,
a 2016 Batch ‘ B ’ ( Stream I ) member of the
National Youth Service Corps , NYSC, families

members and friends of the deceased have
staged a protest in Osun State .
Ifedolapo died at NYSC orientation camp in
Kano State on November 29 and was laid to
rest in her hometown in Osun State on
Thursday.
While reports made the rounds that she died
as a result of negligence from camp officials ,
who allegedly mistook her illness for pretense
to avoid going out for parade , the NYSC had on
Tuesday attributed her death to an untreated
renal sepsis infection .
To register their anger over the alleged
negligence of officials , the protesters on
Tuesday took to the streets in Osun , vowing to
continue the protest until those who allegedly
failed to give adequate medical attention to the
first-class graduate of Transport Management
of the Ladoke Akintola University of
Technology, Ogbomoso , Oyo State , are exposed
and punished.
The protest took off from the Freedom Park
and was led by the National Public Relations
Officer, PRO , of the National Association of
Nigerian Students , NANS , Mr. Idowu Odebunmi ;
the Deputy Coordinator of NANS in the South
West, Mr. Saheed Afolabi , and the National
President of the National Association of Osun
State Students , Mr. Oladejo Bashiru
Dressed in black apparels and displaying
placards bearing various inscriptions , they
marched through the Osogbo /Ibadan Road
before proceeding to the state House of
Assembly .
The PRO said anybody found guilty of
negligence in the case should be punished
according to the law , adding that such would
prevent recurrence of untimely death of those
participating in the scheme.
His words , “The NYSC should be restructured ,
tender a public apology to Nigerians .
“Heavy compensation should be paid to the
family of the deceased and any official, who is
found guilty , must be punished.
“Investigation should be conducted into the
circumstances that led to her death which
should be made public and adequate
compensation be paid by NYSC.”
