A housewife, identified as Mrs. Ogenyi, has been beaten to stupor by her angry husband for allegedly investing the family’s saving in Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox, otherwise known as MMM. DAILY POST gathered that problem ensued between the couple, who resides on Balogun Street, Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos Sunday afternoon, after the husband returned from a trip to his hometown in Benue and discovered that the family saving box was missing. On inquiry from his son, Oche, the father was informed that the mother went out with her friend around 4pm and had not returned. The husband who works as a driver with one of the commercial transport companies later found the saving box broken and empty in the wardrobe. Colombia coach Jose Pekerman felt Lionel Messi was the difference in his team's World Cup qualifying loss to Argentina. Messi's stunning early free-kick was followed by two assists for the Barcelona maestro in his team's 3-0 victory on Tuesday. Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has responded to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s allegation that he (Atiku) was betrayed by the governor and former chairman of the EFCC, Nuhu Ribadu. Suspicion and fear permeates Lagos parallel market as traders struggle to come to terms with last week’s raid by security operatives, the News Agency of Nigeria reports. The situation worsened the scarcity of the greenback as traders’ fear that men of the State Security Service (SSS) were still disguising as potential foreign exchange buyers in the market. A currency trader, who pleaded anonymity, said the situation might further erode the gains made by the CBN in ensuring the sale of the proceeds of Diaspora remittances to BDCs. Meanwhile, currency traders said that it was difficult to put a price on the dollar since it had become scarce. However, the Pound Sterling and the Euro closed at N560 and N500 at the parallel market. At the BDC window, a dollar traded at N385/N400, CBN controlled rate, while the Pound Sterling and the Euro closed at N555 and N500, respectively. The 18th Sultan of Sokoto, Ibrahim Dasuki, is dead. Mr. Dasuki died in a private hospital in Abuja on Monday night, family sources told PREMIUM TIMES. The deceased is the father to former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, who is currently facing corruption charges. The ex-Sultan died at the age of 93. He was deposed as Sultan by the former military dictator, Sani Abacha, in 1996. Prior to becoming Sultan, he held the traditional title of Baraden Sokoto. Mr. Dasuki was the first Sultan from the Buhari line of the house of Uthman Dan Fodio. Mr. Dasuki was a close associate of Ahmadu Bello, the late Sardauna of Sokoto, and was also a friend to late Islamic scholar, Abubakar Gumi. Mr. Dasuki was also influential in the founding of Jama’atu Nasril Islam,JNI. He is expected to be buried according to Islamic rites on Tuesday.
